So for this video I am going to show you one of my favorite techniques combined with another favorite. It's so hard to pick a fav, almost like choosing one of your children over another:-) (or doggies in my case:-) I am a technique person so I just picked two, I went for gesso resist and you may have seen me do it before but I combined it with embossing this time to create fun cards with a grungy distressed look. Be sure to watch the video tutorial to see all techniques at work and make sure to hop along.

I show you two stencil techniques that are awesome but easy. If you haven't seen the 5 Ways to Use Stencil video yet, make sure to check it out for more ways to use your stencils.
For these cards I used the American Crafts - Wildflower and Honey Collection - Icons stencils ( SBC

I made all sentiments with Tim Holtz - Alphabet Die - Handmade ( SBC | CST ) and I added some Nuvo - Crystal Drops  - Auburn Pearl ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC )

I used two stencils for the first cards from the stencils that come in a set of three. The colours of the first cards are a bit softer than the second set of cards even though I used the same colours. It's always fun to play around with inks and get different results.

I used five colours Distress Oxides Ink Peacock Feathers ( SBC | CST | CRF | JGG ) with Aged Mahogany ( SBC | CRF | CST ),  Black Soot ( SBC | CRF | JGG ), Wild Honey ( SBC | CST | CRF ) and Ripe Persimmon ( SBC | CRF | CST )

I added some Nuvo - Stone Drops - Belgium Bluestone ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) as a fun finish, they have some cool texture that goes great with the background.

For the second cards I used the same colour scheme but they turned out much bolder a bit more masculine.

I used the third stencil of the set and used it to emboss and deboss the card.

I coloured the sentiment with  Peacock Feathers ( SBC | CST | CRF | JGG ) and I found the Nuvo - Vintage Drops - Bohemian Teal( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) a good match.

On this card I added some Nuvo - Crystal Drops - Ebony Black ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ), There are a bunch of colours that look great with this colour scheme and you can make the end result more masculine or feminine to fit what you need.

I made all the sentiments glossy by adding a layer of  Ranger Ink - Embossing Powder - Ultra Thick - Clear ( SBC ). Because it's think one layer is enough to cover the letters and to give them the cool gloss finish.

I hope you like this post, thanks for stopping by and make sure to keep on crafting!
