I have have another video where I show you 5 ways to use one stencils on one project, if you haven't seen the "One stencil layering, 5 ways to use one stencil on a card" video yet, make sure to check it out. In today's video you'll see lots of techniques, some you may have seen but with a little twist. So be sure to watch today's video to see all techniques in action.
Technique One Art crayons & Gesso
I started working in my Vicki Boutin Junque Journal and I used the Mixed Media Paper Refills for this page and they are discontinued, the Vicki Boutin - Wildflower and Honey Foundations Paper Pad ( SBC ) is a good alternative. But you can use the techniques on a card or other project too, when you see it like this you could even think this is a card:-)
I added colour to the background with the blue and green Art Crayons ( SBC ) for the first layer.
I use a Tonic Studios Mesh Panel Stencil ( CRF | CST | TNCUK ) to add Dina Wakley Heavy Body White Gesso ( SBC ) with a sponge, this will resist the next layer. I used the Tonic Studios Mesh Panel Stencil ( CRF | CST | TNCUK ) to add another layer with the Art Crayons ( SBC ) in a darker colour and used a wet wipe to remove bits from the gesso pattern.
I made some splats with Dina Wakley Media Heavy Body Black Gesso ( SBC ) and I added a bit along the edges with my finger.
I cut Tim Holtz Tattered Florals ( SBC ) out of Craft Perfect Ultra Smooth Card ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and coloured them with the same colours Art Crayons ( SBC )
I doodled a bit on the flowers with the Sakura Micron pen 0.2 ( SBC ) and I added a printed sentiment.
Technique Two Embossing Vellum
I again used the Mixed Media Paper ( SBC ) for this page. I coloured the background with the blue and green Art Crayons ( SBC ) for the first layer. I started with a Nuvo Brush ( SBC | CST | TNC | TNCUK ) and sprayed some water with the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer ( SBC | JGG | BLT ) to make a paint and brushed it on the background.
This was still very light so I added more colour with the Art Crayons ( SBC ) straight on the paper and used a sponge to blend it out to get a more bold colour. I stamped the Rubber Dance Round in Circles ( RBB ) in different directions on the background with VersaFine Clair Ink Morning Mist ( SBC | CST )
I cut the Tim Holtz Detailed Butterflies ( SBC ) out of Craft Perfect Ultra Smooth Card ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and heat embossed it with
Nuvo Embossing Powder Purple Haze ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC )
Crushed Mulberry( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) and Jet Black ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC )
Crushed Mulberry( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) and Jet Black ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC )
I cut Tim Holtz Small Tattered Florals ( SBC | CST | CRF ) out of Craft Perfect Ultra Smooth Card ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and added colour on the petal with the Art Crayons ( SBC ) and I added Nuvo Embossing Powder - Ocean Sparkle ( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) in the middle to make a heart.
I added the vellum with tape to the page and the flowers and butterfly with a hot glue gun.
Technique Three Ink Sponging
This is a very simple technique but fun I used it for a background but it works great for a stencil too. you need a sponge with some holes in it like a nature sponge.
I started with the Tim Holtz - Layering Stencil - Slate ( SBC ) on a Mixed Media Paper ( SBC ) for this page. I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Shaded Lilac ( SBC | CST | CRF | JGG ) and the sponge to add the colour.
I added Distress Oxide Wilted Violet ( SBC | CRF | CST ) with the sponge through the Tim Holtz - Layering Stencil - Blossom ( SBC ) to add another layer.
I doodled some faux writing or "doctors handwriting" with the Sakura Micron pen 0.2 ( SBC ) and I added a bit of silver with the Nuvo - Gilding Flakes - Silver Bullion ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) on pieces of torn tape.
and I added a printed sentiment.
Technique Four Torn Stencil
This is a super fun and very easy technique and it's also a way to extend you stencil and stretch it at the same time:-)
I used the Junque Journal Watercolor Paper ( SBC ) this time it has a bit of texture but not to much. I used I started to add some colour in the background with Nuvo Arabian Nights Aqua Flow ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) Wild Phlox and I used the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer ( SBC | JGG | BLT ) to get a pretty soft blended look.
I cut the Tim Holtz Small Tattered Florals ( SBC | CST | CRF ) out of Craft Perfect - Watercolour Card ( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ).
I added a printed sentiment and doodled around it a bit with Sakura Micron Black Pen set ( SBC ) no 0.2 to make it stand out more and for a fun touch.
Blended Glacier Paste
I started with Junque Journal Watercolor Paper ( SBC ) and I used Aqua Splash from the Nuvo - Aqua Flow - Summer Holiday ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) set and true turquoise from the Ocean Air set ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) to colour the background.
I used the Nuvo - Media Spatulas ( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) to apply the Nuvo - Glacier Paste - Frostbite ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and Green Envy ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC )
I cut the Tim Holtz Wildflower Stems 2 ( SBC | CST | CRF ) out of Craft Perfect Glitter Card - Silver Screen ( CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) and again out of Craft Perfect Ultra Smooth Card ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) to make them stand out more. And added them upside down just for fun.
And I added a printed sentiment to finish the page.
So there you have lots of techniques to try. I hope you liked this post, thanks for stopping by and make sure to keep on crafting!
