Faux Stitching Technique - Doodle Style

Hi lovely crafty friends, today I have a super easy and cool technique to share, it's sort of fancy doodling, I've used this technique earlier, but I found another way to do the Faux Stitching technique which is sort of a combination between the Faux Stitching and free hand doodling and it's even easier to do.

I have been doing this for ages and I have used it on previous projects. I have another video where I show and tell you about the same technique. In today's video I combined doodling with the Faux Stitching technique, it's a great way to add some texture to a projects and it's also great for beginner card makers. I started with two backgrounds made on Craft Perfect Ultra Smooth Card ( CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) with Nuvo - Aqua Flow Pens - Summer Holiday ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) and the Tim Holtz - Distress Sprayer ( SBC | JGG | BLT )

And I used the Tim Holtz - Layering Stencil ( SBC ) to add some texture. I added the Tim Holtz -Wildflower Stems 2 ( SBC | CST | CRF ) on one card.



And on the other card I added the Tim Holtz Small Tattered Florals ( SBC | CST | CRF ) in white for contrast.



You don't need much for the Faux Stitching technique just two sizes fineliners. I used two Black Sakura Micron Pens ( SBC | CST ) you want a bigger one and a fine one for the best effect.

For the first card I used the ruler to add the stitching and I don't think it's more work, it is just a bit more precise. And it works great to add a real stitched look. You can make the straight stitch or a zig-zag, basically whatever you fancy or what look you want to achieve.

I also added some free hand doodle lines with the super fine Micron Pen ( SBC | CST ) from the set. And it almost looks like a real thread, it's a super cool effect.

For the second card I used the free hand doodle lines and turned them into stitches. It's also a two step technique but basically works the other way around. I show you all how in the video. I also doodled on the flowers to add to the playful look.



For the card base on both cards I used Carta Bella Paper Linen Texture - Ultra White ( SBC ) which has some cool linen texture, a fun way to add a bit off texture but not too much to distract from the card design. And the white goes great with the Coloured background, it makes it pop even more.
