Hi lovely crafty friends, today I have two Christmas cards with made with some fun Nuvo Shimmer Powder Techniques. This will give you some amazing shimmer and sparkle on your cards to make them great for some Christmas snail mail.
(All supplies are linked to different stores at the end of this post in the thumbnails. The different stores are also linked behind the product name. Among them are affiliate links that may be used at no cost to you.)

In the video I show how you can make the background with the Shimmer Powders very easy and with lots of texture. And I use the same colours with a pink added to colour the images using a brush and I walk you through the complete process. So be sure to watch today's video to see all techniques in action.

I have done more video's using shimmer powder and it's super easy to work with and always gives a gorgeous result. If you want more inspiration you can watch the Easy Mixed Media Cards with Shimmer Powder video. If you haven't seen that yet, make sure to check it out.

I used the Rubber Dance Textured Christmas Green ( RBB ) with Nuvo - Shimmer Powder - Green Parade ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) and Catherine Wheel ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) to make the backgrounds on both cards, the powders are super easy to work with. They can be activated with water which will give you lots of options to use them on mixed media projects, on fast card backgrounds in art journals and more.

I used Craft Perfect Ultra Smooth Card ( CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) for both the backgrounds and the flowers. I added the powder in the corners and let the colour move first and used a Nuvo - Nylon Brushes ( SBC | CST | TNCUK | TNCto spread the colour a bit. I also used the same brush and powder on the work surface to make some splats.

Here is the finished background in red and this is done pretty quickly.

I also stamped some flowers with Nuvo Clear Mark Ink Pad ( CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) and heat embossed with Ranger Embossing Powder - Super Fine - Silver ( SBC | JGG | RNG ) and Gold ( SBC | RNG ) and coloured the flowers with the shimmer powders and I added Nuvo - Shimmer Powder - Cherry Bomb ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) to make the pink-green flowers.

I fussy cut the flowers with the Tim Holtz - Non-Stick Micro Serrated Scissors ( SBC | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) the middle one on this picture. Here is the link to the Favorite Tools video where I tell you more about the scissors and why I love them, among other tools I love to use.

Here you can see the fun texture that is so easy to make with the shimmer powders and some water. I used the Nuvo - Light Mist - Spray Bottle ( SBC | CST | CRF | TNCUK | TNC ) which another great tool to make backgrounds like this.

Here you can see the flower up close with the Nuvo - Jewel Drops - Honeysuckle ( SBC | TNCUK | TNC ) I added to finish the card with some dimension.

I stamped some holly on the backgrounds with the same embossing ink and silver embossing powder I used for the flowers.

I stamped a flower on the other background and some stars along the edge and I embossed them with the same gold embossing powder.

Here you can see the other card up close. I added the backgrounds with the flowers to green and red note cards. I finished this card also with some Nuvo - Glitter Drops - Honey Gold ( SBC | CRF | CST | TNCUK | TNC ) for some extra sparkle and dimension.

I hope you are inspired to make your own shimmery watercolour cards. Thanks for stopping by and make sure to keep on crafting!
